Four days, four ferries : Western Scotland, October 2010

Skye coastline

I thought I’d have another go at writing up a motorbike trip (well, actually the rest said I wasn’t allowed to go unless I attempted to write about it…). So here’s a little account of our recent four day trip to the west coast of Scotland.  A few of us had done a couple of similar trips to Scotland this year and we’d said we’d try to squeeze a late one in  before the weather turned bad (ha! – more of that later).

Once again my mate Phil, planned the route, sorted out all the accommodation (a far from easy job trying to get three twin rooms in the same B&B at the end of the season), booked all the ferries and somehow got us all to the start point at the right time, sort of ready to go – thanks again.

There were six of us on this trip, four Phil, Dave and John, on BMW 1200 GS’s,  me on my 1100GS, with Jimmy on his Triumph Sprint and Harry on a Honda Transalp. The plan involved visiting Skye and Mull, taking advantage of the numerous interconnecting ferries on the west coast, seeing a few places we’d not been to before (at least by bike).
